One reason is pinching and constriction of blood vessels at pressure spots that cause lack of oxygen and nutrients to the skin and tissues in those areas. Another cause of bed sores comes from the friction of mattress against your skin. This comes from staying in one position for too long. You are at risk if you are bedridden, use a wheelchair, or are unable to change your position often. These types of pressure ulcers can cause serious infections and can be life-threatening. Pressure ulcers can definitely be a problem for elderly people and people living in nursing homes. Common ulcer sites include the back or sides of the head, rim of the ears, shoulders/shoulder blades, hips, lower back or tailbone, and heels, ankles, and skin behind the knees. Pressure ulcers have a variety of treatments. More serious sores are hard to heal, so early treatment is best.

Once a person becomes over the 20 percent mark, their weight poses a serious health risk. Obesity becomes "morbid" when it increases the risk of one or more obesity-related health conditions or serious diseases such as heart disease or decubitus. This issues tends to run in families, whether it be a genetic factor or an environmental effect of the diet and lifestyle of the family in which you were raised. It has been estimated in the NIH Consensus Report that nearly 10 million people are considered morbidly obese. Obesity places an extra strain on the heart and lungs making it hard to distribute oxygen and nutrients around the body.
